My favorite poem is by William Ernst Henley entitled: Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishment the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
I've learnt that no one can make you happy but yourself. I am the captain of my own soul. I'm blessed to be truly happy as an individual. I have had to pay a heavy price to get to this point but it has been worth it! I feel I don't have to prove myself to anyone anymore. I am comfortable in my own skin. My heart smiles. Yes I do have problems and struggles but the foundation of contentment helps me through it, day by day. There are many things I would to accomplish still and I am on the road to it! I am living my best life!
