The Studying on Sunday Debate

It's sunday afternoon. Time now is 14:43pm. In a few hours i will be heading to bed. I plan to sleep at 18:00pm so that i can wake at 02:00 am to study for my upcoming exams. I remember when i was in high school, my senior year, that i made a PERSONAL choice to never study school work on a sunday. That was in 1997. Ever since that day, i have never studied on the sabbath. It has not been easy to stick to that decision but somehow i have managed.

There have been times, many of them, where i felt i needed all the time in the world to study. My first semester of my MBA studies was one of those times. I needed every minute to study. The work load was heavy. After much thought, that perhaps i needed to change my resolve, i somehow remembered that in all the years of my studying the Lord had never let me down. So i came up with my weird solution, that i would sleep early on sunday and then wake up early Monday morning to resume studying. It was, a way for me to put the Lord literally first. To an outsider, my resolve was foolish and a little bit overboard. For me it was a way to keep the sabbath day holy and to show the Lord that i was willing to put all aside for Him.

Looking back, i don't regret that resolve. He has parted my red seas. I have walked on dry ground and managed with every exam.

It is one of the interesting and faith promoting expiriences that you just shared with us Viwe. When I joined the church Bishop Mohapi challenged me to do the same. It is comforting to know that the Good God sustains those who put Him first and do all in their power to show obedience to His commandments, watch the Lord perfom His miracles for you now as the results are coming!
